Established in 1936 by "Henry" and "Edsel" Ford, Ford Foundation is the most philanthropic foundation in the world, centered on the principle of social justice and equality, their charitable and altruistic activities range from promoting civil and human rights globally and addressing poverty to providing quality education and funding projects involving technology just to mention a few.
Determined to ensure techonology meets the needs of the world, they support the growth of technically sophisticated, diverse organisations dedicated to advancing equitable and more inclusive digital spaces and systems.
ABOUT HENRY AND EDSEL FORD
Henry was born on July 30, 1863, in Dearborn, Michigan. He was raised on a form which grew his interest in mechanics and prompted his move to Detroit to work as an apprentice machinist.
In 1903 he founded the "Ford Motor Company" which overhauled the vehicular industry.
Amongst Henry's remarkable innovations are the "Mobile T", (introduced in 1908), and the "Assembly line", (pioneered in 1913), as well as the "Five-Dollar Workday" movement of 1914, aimed at reducing employee turnover while promoting consumer spending.
Ford's legacy and bequest lives on after his demise, as the American dream of a nation with the ideology and concept of hardwork, is now imbibed and inculcated in a mammoth amount of Americans. Not forgetting his highly criticized anti Jewish prejudiced publication, "The Dearborn Independent".
Ford passed on to glory on April 7, 1947, leaving a worthwhile, rich and robust legacy behind.
Edsel was born on November 6, 1893 in Detroit, Michigan where he attended the Detroit University School and Lawrence institute of technology.
After joining the family business, he became president in 1919 and played a key role in product design and development. His stellar impact and contributions to the ambiance and layout of Ford Vehicles led to the astonishing and astounding development of the sophisticated "Lincoln Zephyr" and "1941 Ford" automotives.
With the focus on expanding Ford's luxurious car collections, he acquired the salient, "Lincoln Motor Company" in 1922.
Unlike his father, Edsel was known for his refined tastes and interests in visual arts rather than business strategies, Despite an intense and dreadful struggle with cancer, his contributions in form of additions and subtractions to the automobile design, as well as advocacy for quality and design has a long lasting effect on the Ford Brand.
